The Settler is an Ancient Era civilian unit of measurement in Civilization Half-dozen. It is bachelor without any technological inquiry.
Strategy [ ]
Settlers are used to aggrandize your empire. Whenever a Settler is built or purchased in a urban center, that city'south Population is lowered by ane as some of your people strike out to settle new lands.
Conveniently, Settlers take greater Sight than all other starting units, which allows them to spot practiced city locations from afar. However, don't get tempted to employ them for scouting. Offset, they are much more useful for expanding your empire than wandering around searching for Tribal Villages and such. Second, as civilian units, Settlers are caught, and thus it is prudent to escort them with a military unit as they search for a skillful identify to found a new city. Unlike in Civilization Five, a Settler that is captured from another civilisation will remain a Settler under the control of the civilization that captured information technology.
The Production cost of a Settler scales according to the post-obit formula, in which x is the number of Settlers you've trained (including your initial one):
Captured Settlers and conquered cities practise not increase the toll of the next Settler, but Settlers received for gratuitous practice.

Some ended their journeying in desert, marsh, ice field, or mount valley. And, inevitably, amongst hostile natives. The reasons they left their former homes behind were every bit varied as the terrain they traversed: hunger, wealth, ambition, adventure, fear, freedom, and in a higher place all the hope for their descendants to take what they did non. Where they stopped became villages, towns, cities, and civilizations. And, the cycle began again...
